Boss Fight Entertainment, the Texas-based independent game developer has been acquired by Netflix, the company announced in a blog post. The disclosure of the financial terms of the deal has not been made so far. The deal is a part of the streaming service’s ongoing push toward gaming, which marks Netflix’s third acquisition of a gaming company.
Boss Fight was founded by former Zynga Dallas and Ensemble Studios employees in 2013. Netflix says in order to provide Netflix users with more titles the studio’s experience with building games across genres will help accelerate its ability. To operate out of their current studios in Dallas, Austin and Seattle will be continued by the Boss Fight Team.

Earlier this month, Netflix announced that for a total value of €65 million ($72 million), it was acquiring a developer of mobile games, Finland’s Next Games. Titles related to some of Netflix’s biggest draws, such as “Stranger Things” and “The Walking Dead”, have already been developed by the free-to-play mobile games publisher. In Q2 2022 the deal is expected to close.
Netflix acquired Night School Studio, the independent game developer known for narrative-driven titles like “Oxenfree”, last September. The financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed. The studio would continue to work on Oxenfree II and other Night School titles said Night School executives.
Netflix’s bigger strategy to build out its gaming content to complement its video catalog is a part of the acquisition.
