Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has grabbed a 10-year deal from Transport for London (TfL) to design, implement and operate a new smart mobility system that will reimagine the administration of taxi and private hire vehicles in London.
Transport for London (TfL) is a local government body responsible for most of the transport network in the city, including the London Underground, Docklands Light Railways, buses, taxis, trams, and river services.
TCS, a leading global IT service, consulting, and business solutions organization, has been selected by Transport for London (TfL) for the 10-year contract – which has the opportunity for a five-year extension. Over the course of the contract, TCS will digitally transform taxi and private hire licensing and administration, as well as implement continuous improvements and innovation, responding to evolving industry trends and customer demands.
The new system will be designed and launched by TCS using its DigiGOV framework for speedy digital transformation. The system will include an on-demand data and records management system, permitting TfL to access transportation data from taxis and private hire vehicles on-demand, and will be presented on Amazon Web Services. The new system will be flexible and extensible to comply with evolving policy requirements and legislation. TCS will conduct in-depth training as part of the onboarding process.
The platform will also include both front-end interfaces and back-end integrations to facilitate activities such as booking, personal detail processing, and vehicle inspections.
