FabiMedia: Helping businesses grow, win customers, and build enduring relationships

Alejandro Fabian Gonzalez tells Startup Story that the rapid evolution of technology and market instability has made it difficult for companies to stay onboard. With the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic, most in-person restaurants shut down and many of them had to resort to selling online. This made them realise how important it is to have a social presence online. This is where Chicago-based startup FabiMedia steps in.
Alejandro Fabian Gonzalez setup FabiMedia, an integrated marketing agency that brings all elements of digital marketing – from creatives to strategy and marketing, from advertising to web designing – under one roof, in late 2019. It helps brands & businesses achieve and accelerate their goals, and win customers by leveraging the power of Digital Marketing. FabiMedia helps companies grow by aligning their business and online strategies.
Before establishing his business, Alejandro was building a gaming forum that he never got around to finishing. To generate traffic to his gaming forum, he built an audience on Instagram. He started a page called “Learn to Arcade” where he built more than 14,000 followers in less than 8 months. With this success, opportunities came knocking on his door.
“Friends and family started to notice my success with social media management and asked if I would be interested in managing their business accounts. I said yes. As soon as I went from one client to three clients, I quickly realized the need for SMM (social media marketing) and decided to start doing this full-time,” Alejandro said.
“Being bilingual in English and Spanish, I have the luxury of being able to market business for English and Spanish-speaking audiences. This is a huge advantage in the city of Chicago as there’s a big Spanish-speaking community,” he added.
He described the customer experience at FabiMedia in the past 2 years as a roller coaster ride. On one hand, they had to deal with some rude and overly demanding clients, but, he said that mostly they’ve been lucky to deal with nice clients as well. One of the major challenges they faced was building trust with potential clients. As a newer agency, they had to convince their potential clients that they understand what they need and will get the job done.
“For every project, we grab the brand’s goals and revenue-based metrics as the focal point. We involve our clients in each step of a project, ensuring that they learn and give consistent feedback,” he stated.
Talking about his team and work environment he said, “I’ve predominantly been a solopreneur. However, I have had to partner with other creatives to help out with particular campaigns. But mostly it’s just been me.”
“When I’ve had to delegate some work to other people like website design or graphic design, I’ve prioritized giving them enough freedom to be creative and do what they do best,” he added.
Mentioning the future goals he said that their biggest goal before the end of 2022 is to open office space for their team. According to Alejandro, he started with word-of-mouth marketing, then transitioned into google ads and Facebook/IG ads. FabiMedia has come a long way in such a short time of 2 years. The future is filled with opportunities.
Alejandro believes in delivering the best work possible which includes amazing customer service, constant communication, and overdelivering. “I try to not focus too much on competitors. Most have been in the market for a far longer time than FabiMedia, which is why I believe that we need to go at our own pace,” he said.
As a final piece of advice, he said, “the best time to start was yesterday, and the second-best time is today. If you’re going to start make sure you don’t risk too much, but also don’t play it safe.”
