Healthcare accessibility and management have long been pain points for individuals navigating complex medical systems. Recognizing this challenge, One Health Assist emerged as a transformative solution, integrating health, nutrition, and wellness into a seamless experience. Founded by Davinder Bhasin and Karan Arora, the platform simplifies healthcare management, empowering users with better control over their medical journey.
In an exclusive conversation with Startup Story Media, Davinder Bhasin (Founder) and Karan Arora (Co-Founder) shed light on their entrepreneurial journey, the inspiration behind One Health Assist, the challenges they overcame, and their vision for the future.
Tell us about your background, your educational journey, and what you were doing before founding your startup. What sparked your entrepreneurial spirit, and what led you to leap into entrepreneurship?
Davinder Bhasin, Founder, One Health Assist: I have a diverse background that spans various industries, including technology, finance, etc. My educational journey equipped me with skills in business management, information technology, etc. Before founding One Health Assist, I was involved in launching and leading projects in the tech sector as well as the finance sector.
My entrepreneurial spirit was ignited by a desire to address real-world challenges through innovative solutions. Observing the complexities individuals face while managing their health, I recognized an opportunity to leverage my experience to create a platform that simplifies healthcare access and management. This realization led me to establish One Health Assist, aiming to integrate health, nutrition, and wellness services into a cohesive user experience.
What was the inspiration behind the creation of your startup? What problem did you aim to solve, and how did you come up with the idea for your product or service?
Davinder Bhasin, Founder: One Health Assist was born from the personal challenges we encountered while navigating the complexities of the healthcare system. When my mother faced a serious illness, the demands of her treatment, including frequent travel between cities, were overwhelming. The constant pressure to keep track of countless documents amid the chaos was incredibly stressful. The fear of misplacing crucial paperwork and the potential repercussions added to the emotional burden. These shared experiences with my co-founder, Karan, who faced similar challenges, solidified the need for a solution. We recognized the widespread frustration individuals experience when trying to manage intricate healthcare details while juggling multiple treatments. This realization inspired us to create a platform that simplifies healthcare management. One Health Assist aims to centralize and streamline the process of accessing, tracking, and coordinating health, nutrition, and wellness needs, providing individuals with greater control and peace of mind.
When did you realize there was a genuine need for your product or service in the market? What factors led you to validate that this idea would be successful, and when did you officially launch in the market?
Karan Arora, Co-Founder: The need for One Health Assist became evident through our own medical struggles, but we also realized that this was not a unique issue to us. Many individuals face similar challenges when dealing with healthcare systems—managing appointments, tracking documents, and keeping everything organized. To validate the idea, we spoke to people who had faced these issues and conducted small surveys, which confirmed that healthcare management was a widespread pain point. We officially launched One Health Assist in 2022, and since then, the response has been overwhelmingly positive, reinforcing that we were addressing a genuine need.
Since your company was founded during the funding winter how have you planned to address the challenges that come with it?
Karan Arora, Co-Founder: While I appreciate that the current startup ecosystem is far more stringent, however, let’s not forget that the Indian economy is in a steady state and India’s startup ecosystem is one of the largest in the world. It is known for its innovation and entrepreneurship, driven by a young workforce, affordable internet, and solutions for real issues. With our unique offering of a medical repository that touches an emotional chord with multiple people as well as an integrated approach to the health and wellness ecosystem, we are anyway getting approached by multiple investors across spectrum of PIs, HNIs and funds. We are in discussions and believe that very soon we will be able to scale up further and faster.
Can you tell us about the product or service you offer? What makes it unique in the market, and how do you differentiate yourself from competitors? Who are your main competitors, and what sets you apart?
Davinder Bhasin, Founder: One Health Assist offers a comprehensive prevention-to-solutions platform that brings together health management, nutrition, fitness, health commerce, and wellness services. We say “Health Banao Simple” because we enable users to store medical records, manage appointments, consult specialists, and track treatments—all in one place via our OneHealth Locker, our medical repository offering, where you can upload, store and share records with any doctor/expert at the flick of a button, anytime, anywhere. What makes us unique is this holistic focus on the integration and personalization of health and wellness. Unlike other services that focus on one aspect of healthcare, we provide a complete ecosystem for individuals to take charge of their health.
Building a startup requires a great team. Can you tell us more about the people who have helped your startup grow? What values and principles are central to your company culture, and how do you ensure these are upheld as the team expands?
Karan Arora, Co-Founder: Our team is at the core of our success. We have a diverse and driven group of people who are deeply committed to making health and wellness easier and more accessible. The values that drive our culture are empathy, innovation, and transparency. We make sure that these principles are woven into our day-to-day operations through clear communication, collaborative decision-making, and a shared vision of what One Health Assist aims to achieve. As we expand, we ensure that every new team member understands these values and embraces them in their work.
How did you launch your product in the market, and what has the journey looked like since then? What milestones have you achieved, and what progress have you made toward your goals?
Davinder Bhasin, Founder: Our product launch was driven by a deep understanding of the issues we were solving. We began with a small group of users who shared their experiences and helped refine our platform. Since then, we have been growing everyday, reaching a wider audience through organic growth and word-of-mouth referrals. Some of our key milestones include expanding our user base, establishing strategic partnerships, and receiving positive feedback from users who feel empowered by our platform. We’ve made significant progress in our mission to simplify healthcare, and we’re excited about the possibilities and how we can contribute to people’s lives ahead.
What practices do you follow to ensure a healthy and productive work environment for your team members and partners? How do you foster a culture of growth, collaboration, and innovation?
Karan Arora, Co-Founder: We believe that a healthy and productive work environment begins with trust and respect. We encourage open communication and create opportunities for our team to share ideas and collaborate on solutions. We foster a culture of growth by providing continuous learning opportunities and challenging each team member to push the boundaries of what they can achieve. Innovation and flexibility are two important pillars of what we do, and we make sure that everyone feels empowered to contribute their unique perspectives.
What are your long-term goals for the startup? How are you planning to scale your operations and expand your reach in the future? Are there any new markets or regions you’re targeting?
Davinder Bhasin, Founder: Our mission is to establish ourselves as the foremost platform for creating the largest-ever healthcare ecosystem. We are dedicated to creating a secure and intuitive environment for healthcare that is unique yet inclusive. We are building the world’s largest centralized repository of medical records, designed to provide consumers with seamless access and facilitate enhanced diagnosis for better-served needs.
We plan to scale by continuing to improve the user experience, expanding our range of services, and targeting new markets. We’re particularly focused on regions where healthcare accessibility is a significant challenge, and we aim to offer solutions that make managing health easier for everyone. The growth potential is huge, and we’re excited to scale our operations while staying true to our mission of simplifying healthcare for individuals everywhere.
Can you share your current investment status? What are your plans for raising funds or seeking investments to fuel your startup’s growth in the near future?
Davinder Bhasin, Founder: Currently we are bootstrapped and One Health Assist is a self-funded venture. Till date we have infused 60 million INR across various aspects of business mainly product perfection, strong technology, workforce etc. However, since we already have multiple investors in rounds of discussions with us, thanks to our unique proposition, we will be shortly able to grow exponentially.
What has the customer experience been like so far? How do you ensure your product or service meets their needs and exceeds expectations? How many customers have you reached since your inception?
Davinder Bhasin, Founder: The customer experience has been very positive, with many users expressing relief at how easy and organized managing their healthcare has become. We continuously gather feedback from our users to ensure that our platform meets their needs and exceeds expectations. We’ve reached lacs of consumers since our inception, and we are proud of the impact we’re having on people’s lives. By focusing on simplicity, reliability, and personalization, we aim to offer an experience that truly enhances the way people manage their health.
Every startup faces challenges. Can you elaborate on the key challenges you’ve encountered along the way and how you overcame them? What were the biggest lessons learned through these experiences?
Karan Arora, Co-Founder: One of the biggest challenges we faced early on was building trust with users in a sector as sensitive as healthcare. People are understandably cautious when it comes to sharing their health data online, and convincing them to use our platform was no easy task. We overcame this by prioritizing data security via HIPAA compliance, transparency, and making sure our platform was easy to navigate. Another challenge was the initial struggle to secure funding during the funding winter. We managed this by focusing on organic growth and customer retention, proving our concept without needing large investments upfront.
One key lesson we learned is the importance of persistence and adaptability. Every obstacle taught us something new about the business and the people we were trying to serve. Being able to adjust our approach based on feedback and market conditions has been crucial to our growth.
Looking back on your entrepreneurial journey, what advice would you give to young entrepreneurs or those thinking about starting their own ventures? What key lessons have you learned, and what would you do differently?
Karan Arora, Co-Founder: My advice to young entrepreneurs would be to focus on solving real problems, not just on building a product. The key to success is understanding your audience deeply and ensuring that your solution addresses a tangible pain point. Also, don’t rush the process—building a sustainable business takes time and requires a lot of hard work. Be ready to pivot if necessary, but always stay true to your mission. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that the journey is not a straight line. There will be ups and downs, but it’s important to remain flexible and open to learning from mistakes. If I were to do something differently, I would have focused more on building a strong network early on. Relationships with mentors, industry peers, and potential customers are invaluable and can help you navigate challenges more effectively.
