Clowak Innovations is all set to introduce its most awaited product which is a Portable Dental Clinic (PDC). This portable dentistry equipment is fit to be used in domiciliary, military, humanitarian and normally inaccessible surroundings. The PDC facility offers fully working operative dental surgery in just a matter of 20 minutes. It has been specifically designed to suit the needs of a dentist on the move and because of its durable and portable nature, it proves to be a valuable asset. The PDC case was designed to always be pushed forward, virtually eliminating all the efforts needed while using traditional luggage as it gives major pain and discomfort to the muscles. PDC created by Clowak Innovations was founded by a brother-sister duo, Surya M Rajendran and Rakshini Pravitha. Surya M Rajendran is the co-founder and Managing Director of the startup having six years of experience in product designing and development is a Mechanical Engineer and an alumnus of the Vellore Institute of Technology. Whereas Rakshini Pravitha, the co-founder is a dentist. 

Upcoming future projects –

The firm confirmed that its product will be launched in June on the other hand its application will also be launched in July and is also planning to sell its product to the dental colleges of tier-II cities of Tamil Nadu. The startup is also looking forward to raising investments from the investors after July.

The team behind the startup and its recognition – 

The startup is run by a skilled team constituting 2 mechanical engineers and 3 electronic engineers with Rakshini Pravitha as the backbone of the team. While talking about the current investment status in the startup, Surya said that only 10% of his money has been used in the firm and the rest 90% of the capital is funded by the government as the startup has received several recognitions and awards from the government like Nidhi Prayas, the initiative by Department of Science and Technology (DST) under GOI as well as Startup TN, a recognition by the Government of Tamil Nadu and Startup India, a campaign by Government of India.

The idea behind such a creative product –

Surya shared his two instances which form the major part of his idea behind creating such a wonderful product. He said that when he visited two of the villages in Tamil Nadu he saw that people could not afford the cost of dental surgeries and they were also not privileged enough to get the services at the right time as hospitals are situated far from the villages and so dental checkups were not feasible to the villagers. Talking about the other instance he mentioned that his sister who is the co-founder of the startup and is also a final year dental student and has to undergo one year of internship before completing the degree in which they are required to treat the patients. But as tier-II and tier-III cities face a lack of inflow of patients and also the interns face difficulty in finding the patients for the treatment, it was again not appropriate. So by the launch of PDC, the rural population can also be treated as the dentists can go and complete the check-up without paying the patients for the treatment. 

Impact of lockdown on startups –

While talking about the effect of the pandemic on businesses he said that during these times only many companies also became unicorns and so their vision is based on customer satisfaction which will eventually bring monetary benefits on its own. Surya said that he focuses on the brighter aspect of everything and works in the right direction as it is the key to success.

Healthy work environment –

The startup follows a very healthy and supportive work culture as there is no fixed time for the employees to report and complete their assigned work at their convenience. The company runs on the old theme of trust with each other and is very employee-friendly. 

The startup has so far completed its second phase of testing and has outshined in its performance and customer satisfaction as a portable dental clinic is a very new concept but at the same time a genuine solution for the people.
