-“My own plight sparked this initiative. I lost my pet four years ago, and as a 22-year pet parent, this sense of loss inspired me to start Monkoodog in the hopes of helping other pets and pet parents.”- Manish Paul, founder of Monkoodog in an exclusive interview with Startup Story.
Tragedy To Pursuit Of Happiness
The death of his French mastiff bulldog was the final straw for dog parent Manish Paul. He wasn’t new to pet rearing, having owned dogs since he was a child, but being fully responsible for a puppy was the challenge. He used the internet, like most pet parents do, to look for materials to assist him in parenting his new dog.
Being an enthusiastic personality, Manish spent almost a decade in the equities market before co-founding Monkoodog with Himani Baisla and Abhishek Singh. At Pace Financial Services Pvt Ltd, he concentrated on equity trading and portfolio management. He enjoys travelling and playing house music on his home DJ setup when he is not at work. Also, he is always emotionally invested in health and fitness activities such as going to the gym, meditation, CrossFit, and so on.
In 2019, Manish built a community with other friends of his to raise awareness, with the goal of uniting people across the world through their mutual love for dogs and making the world a better place for them. He began Monkoodog as a YouTube channel where he posted videos about pet care, house etiquette, training, and other topics, amassing over 63,000 subscribers and more than 100 million views. He decided to make a company out of it after gaining a large following. After a lot of the channel’s viewers pointed out shortcomings in the Indian pet services industry, he saw immediate confirmation for his venture.
Manish added, “I decided to step up and created Monkoodog, a platform that puts all types of pet solutions under one umbrella and allows pet parents to not only locate and access them conveniently but also judge the customers ’ satisfaction based on the ratings of other pet parents.”
Type, Explore, and Stop
Monkoodog is a pet-focused version of Google and Facebook, launched in 2021. It assists pet owners in keeping track of medical records, vaccination, and deworming regimens, locating pet-friendly cafés and motels, scheduling playdates, booking grooming services, and locating local supplementary services like ambulances.
More notably, this iOS and Android app-based system enables pet parents to organise records of their pet’s vaccination and deworming programs, track their development, and discover other pets around for socialisation.
Combated The Pandemic
Manish highlighted to Startup Story in an exclusive interview that “This business was steadily built up while the globe was in turmoil. Previously, the industry was predicted to develop at a rate of around 4%, but after the covid, the global CAGR climbed to 5.6 per cent. As a result, in the next ten years, the worldwide market will enhance the sector. Furthermore, research collected over the previous two years throughout the world indicates that the market will develop significantly in the next 10 to 20 years.”
Business Model, Revenue And Plans
Without investing any marketing dollars and only via word of mouth and as well as through their own social media, the site has seen more than 6,000 pet registrations. The brand only aims to provide a secure environment in which pets can thrive. To stand up for the rights and wellbeing of pets. To unite a community of pet enthusiasts who genuinely care about their furry companions.
The venture is presently Bootstrap and is primarily interested in gaining popularity, going to sign up new service providers, will enrol the information of must-have services for pet parents which including crematoriums, pet cabs, emergency services, rescue teams, and much more, and also encouraging more pet parents to create profiles for their pets on the Monkoodog App.
However, the company is attempting to raise funds and is in talks with a few potential investors. As a result, the present focus of 2022 is on attracting investments. In spite of that, the brand plans to debut its revenue model in the sale of services by April in order to quickly grab and penetrate the market.
Monkoodog, on the other hand, plans to offer service providers a modest commission for each appointment they assist book through its platform in the future.
Monkoodog, according to Manish, will become a one-stop-shop for visitors to educate and also a single platform for storing pet details such as vaccination, grooming, and deworming regimens. In the coming months, the company aims to put certain pet network services under the Monkoodog banner as an in-house product, such as trainers, groomers, and pet sitters. The providers would be integrated into Monkoodog then use the platform to reach new customers.
“We Promote a pet-friendly atmosphere in our immediate surroundings. Creating a community that is not only sympathetic to animals but also empathic to them. So the next time, When a pet parent is seeking a grooming service in a town where they don’t live, the Monkoodog would let them know that this is a business that they can rely on.”
