- BySheetal Sidhu | August 2, 2021
“As an entrepreneur one needs to keep going despite facing challenges and difficult times, there might be times when you would want to quit but success can only be achieved by believing in one’s dreams and working towards it,” Santosh Verma, Co-Founder, IoTronix in an elaborate interview with Startup story.
How IoTronix Was Founded
Starting off the conversation with Startup Story, Santosh told us about his education and attaining a degree in electrical engineering back in 2014. Later, he joined the startup world and started a company named Go-Web. About which he figured that it was not an idea that could be pursued and soon enough he switched to the idea of IoTronix. Taking us back in the journey Santosh told us that IoT was a relatively new term in India and they decided to bring it into use. With global warming highly impacting the world they understood that since the usage of energy was not decreasing so they could work near the lines of efficient use of energy. IoTronix was founded in 2017 and is based out of Noida.
The Core Concept Of The Company
IoTronix works in the department of development of IoT devices that ensure efficient, reliable and secure devices. With their business approach set on bringing hardware-as-a-service (HAAS), they have changed the way we look at future automated smart homes and smart hotels. There devices are highly energy saving and can be managed through regular smartphones.
Marketing The Product
When they started they were like any other market player who was dealing with the customer and so during the initial phases that is the way they followed to launch themselves. However, they soon understood that this was not the ideal way to tread as far as proper marketing of their product was concerned and so after proper research they concluded that cost and reliability were the major reasons people were reluctant on the product. Later they concluded that rather than selling it upfront they could charge on month on month basis and that proved to be a fruitful decision.
Team At IoTronix
IoTronix was founded by two people Santosh and his professor, Prof Bidyut Bhattacharyya who were in touch and they had been planning to work together since Santosh had been in College, telling us more about his professor he told us that he was a great personality in his own field. Since, both of them carried the mutual passion of helping the society they worked on this project collectively.
Future Plans And Challenges Faced
Santosh told Startup story that as for funding they had only recently held their seed round in which they raised one million. At the moment Santosh is focused on working in India when looking at the upcoming two years after which they would plan on the global expansion of the company. Due to the pandemic most of their plans were laid off. Because they are working in the department of smart hotel technology and the pandemic taking over, it became difficult to install the devices personally and since the clients are reliant on them to make the installation they faced some issues otherwise the workings were smooth. Santosh also told us that it is overall a simple process which can easily be managed through smartphones but because it is slightly new their customers looked forward to their presence. Bad connectivity in some parts of the country also posed a huge issue due to which they even had to stop a project they were working on in Nainital.
Coping With Competition
Most of their competitors take the approach of selling their product upfront while IoTronix has resolved this problem by making their product easily available and cost effective as they charge month on month basis which works to their advantage. This helps all hotels to easily be able to afford the product. Despite, cost and the size of the product being the biggest challenges faced on inception. They can now easily make the product available to any kind of hotel which was previously a luxury mostly affordable by only the best businesses.
