While the electronics and automation industry in India is witnessing massive growth, it is facing many challenges with multiple layers, various stakeholders, and difficulties in supply chain management. To drive efficiency for everyone in the electronics and automation supply chain, Dileep Seshu started Yellow Retail in 2017 along with his brother, Sandeep Seshu.

After completing his engineering, Dileep discovered the opportunities offered by the automation and electronics industry. He identified a significant gap in the automotive supply chain, with most companies relying on traditional means for the supply of parts, thereby resulting in limited accessibility. With a vision to provide customers with reduce carrying costs, minimize the effects of future price increases or shortages, achieve accuracy in cost planning, he established the reliable global electronic components distribution and network, complementing clients’ existing supply channels with extensive electronic components distribution services and market expertise. Later, his brother Sandeep Sheshu, who is also an engineer and has worked in the IT sector for 6 years, joined the startup as the co-founder. Spotting an opportunity in the fragmented supply chain, they became a digital procurement partner for technology-driven companies.

The Bangalore-based Yellow Retail is a platform-as-a-service for technology-driven companies that becomes their digital procurement partner by making daily procurements from wholesale markets simple and easy.

The supply chain startup is a relationship-based network that facilitates eCommerce buying and selling between retailers. Yellow Retail is a global supply chain partner for most of the technology-driven companies in India and in 40+ countries. Yellow Retail is spread from automobile manufacturing plants, Oil & Gas industries in southeast Asia to mining industries in African countries. Yellow Retail’s strategic logistics offers even some of the most difficult-to-find and obsolete electronic components, worldwide 24 hours a day, sourced by their multi-lingual purchasing team. They are a broad line distributor of Electronic Components, Semiconductors, equipment, and accessories for the electronics and industrial automation industry. They deal with all kinds of Industrial Electronic components, Industrial automation products, Medical Electronic components, instrumentation, and process control spares and parts. Utilizing e-commerce, the company has built practical solutions for each company ranging from procurement, distribution to exports and imports.

Yellow Retail’s supply chain network is growing fast, and a large number of automotive brands are signing up to sell to the network.

“Soon after setting up our business, we got our first customer after 45 days, Even though the paycheque was very small, it meant a lot to us. Since then we have grown up to serve 5000+ customers in 40+ countries across the globe in a few years. And our team size has increased from 1 to 20 (14 offshore and 6 onsite). Our sales growth has increased by 500%. We started our supply chain company with just 50K and went on to generate a revenue of Rs 10 crore in FY20,” Sandeep told Startup Story media.

Mentioning the challenges faced during the COVID-19 pandemic, Dileep said, “Rather than being a hindrance, the pandemic came as an opportunity for us to widen our global market. Although the supply chain in India was affected in the first phase of the lockdown, later we used it as an opportunity to increase our exports and imports in the international market.”

Today, Yellow Retail has a team of over 20 members, who are highly skilled and experienced, possessing rich industry experience in their respective domains of business operations. Dileep takes care of the overall operations and finance and Sandeep is behind the tech, product, and global operations

“We are expecting more than Rs 100 crore worth transaction by FY2025, We aspire to expand to more countries and make our platform a single value chain between companies, retailers, and customers for our future generations,” Sandeep added.
