Sequoia Surge’s 6th edition features twenty businesses from a variety of industries, including cybersecurity, payments, EdTech, and others.


Surge, Sequoia Capital India’s rapid scale-up and mentorship programme for entrepreneurs, has announced the commencement of its sixth cohort, which includes 20 early-stage companies. Surge Ventures and other investors have put $60 million into seven Indian and Southeast Asian firms, the venture capital firm announced on January 25.

Surge 06 will include two businesses from Bangladesh, which has previously contributed to the programme. In addition, this year’s Surge will feature entrepreneurs from Malaysia, Thailand, and Taiwan. Surge 06’s 13 out of 20 firms are building targeting an audience outside of their home markets from the start, according to Sequoia Capital India.

Surge is Sequoia Capital India’s rapid scale-up programme, which supports and mentors Indian and Southeast Asian entrepreneurs and founders. The 16-week online course will cover the principles of business formation. The programme concludes with an investor week called UpSurge, during which founders can network with potential investors and partners . Furthermore, the programme provides $1-2 million in initial financing to these firms, as well as company-building workshops and exposure to a global curriculum.

Airavana, founded by Ashish Verma and Kedar Kekan, BambooBox, founded by Ankur Saigal and Divyesh Dixit, Vinayak Aggarwal’s BiteSpeed, and Blend, founded by Jamsheed Kamardeen, Vaibhav Prakash, and Vishwanath Kollapudi, are among the startups that will participate in Surge 06, among others.

Surge 06 firms, according to Sequoia India, are seeking for tech-driven solutions in a variety of markets and industries. Because of their focus on optimising complicated agriculture supply chains and digital learning, they indicated that AgTech and EdTech innovation is a highlight. Examples of similar businesses are 10 Minute School, created by Abdullah Raied and Ayman Sadiq, and Aqgromalin, founded by Bharani CL and Prasanna Manogaran.
