Sedifly Concludes Oversubscribed Pre-Seed Round to Democratize College Admissions
Singapore-based EdTech startup Sedifly has successfully closed a six-figure pre-seed funding round that was oversubscribed three times, backed by several angel investors including serial entrepreneurs and multinational C-suite executives. This new capital infusion bolsters Sedifly’s mission to democratize access to top-tier college education by providing affordable, high-quality mentorship and strategic guidance to students worldwide applying to leading universities in the US and UK.
Since its launch earlier this year, Sedifly has rapidly onboarded its first cohort of students and developed a substantial waitlist, surpassing industry conversion benchmarks by four times. Supported by a high-performing team of over 20 members, the company has also engaged multiple institutional partnerships and achieved profitability within less than a month through community-led growth strategies.
Sedifly offers a holistic ecosystem encompassing academic enrichment, extracurricular leadership development, essay coaching, and interview preparation. The startup’s strategist team comprises education industry veterans who have guided students to acceptances at prestigious institutions such as Harvard, Stanford, Oxford, and Cambridge.
Looking ahead, Sedifly plans to leverage the new funds to expand its product capabilities, enhance AI-driven personalization, and penetrate critical markets. The company aims to make educational consulting more accessible by offering 200% of the support of traditional firms at only 20% of the cost.
Joash Lee, Founder and CEO of Sedifly, emphasized the startup’s commitment to value-driven education: “Admission to top universities has become increasingly competitive, with Ivy League acceptance rates shrinking fivefold over three decades. Traditional consulting fees are prohibitive for many families. Sedifly strives to make expert guidance affordable and transparent, leveling the playing field for all students.”
The funding round also brought two new board directors on board: Daniel Ding, a real estate veteran with nearly 25 years of global investment experience, and Jessie Lim, a seasoned finance executive overseeing billions in revenue at a European-listed company. Their expertise will help guide Sedifly’s strategic growth and governance as it scales globally.
In summary, Sedifly’s oversubscribed pre-seed funding and strengthened leadership position it to revolutionize education consulting, empowering students worldwide to achieve their academic ambitions with world-class yet affordable support.
