Retail Inflation Hits Highest Mark Among The Last Six Months

Retail inflation hits highest mark to a six month high in MAy since fuel became pricey, now wholesale retail inflation hits the highest mark of 12.9 % clearly indicating the price pressures in the already battling economy of India after the second wave of Covid – 19. Data released by National Statistical Office has shown the index being raised to a 6.3% in MAy, which is higher than the percentage recorded in April which was 4.2%
As retail inflation hits its highest mark, RBI’s upper band of inflation target has been breached, after it remained within limits for straight five months in a row. Core inflation which does not include food and fuel has shot to a highest in seven years. Edible Oils has been every month since January. Eggs remained a annual of 15.2 % while oils and fats soared by 30.8%
