Over $18.25M raised by Fantasy and science fiction author, Brandon Sanderson in less than 3 days on Kickstarter

In just under two days Brandon Sanderson, Fantasy and science fiction author has crowdfunded on Kickstarter by over $18.25 million, he has been known for the Mistborn series and The Stormlight Archive. He still has 28 days more left to break the record set by the Pebble Time smartwatch in March 2015 of about $20.34 million in Kickstarter, after rapidly hitting his goal set of $1 Mn.
Dragonsteel Entertainment is Sanderson’s company that has also raised such an amount earlier. In 2021, for a leather-bound 10th-anniversary edition of his 2010 book The Way of Kings about $6.79 Mn were raised. This was rated as the 7th highest on the New York Times Bestseller List. Around four new, unpublished books titled “Secret Project #1” to “Secret Project #4” has been offered this time by Sanderson. Over next year, it will be delivered to backers on a quarterly basis.
An average of over $250 each has been spent by around 71,980 backers at the time of publishing. An excitement about this surprise launch has clearly been seen in Sanderson’s fans. Apparently, the unpublished books have started being a gift for Sanderson’s wife.
