Open Source Startup Hasura raises $100 Mn to enter the unicorn club

Hasura has become the 10th startup to enter the coveted unicorn club. it’s a Bengaluru and San Francisco-based startup founded by Tanmay Gopal and Rajoshi Ghosh in July 2018 it was an open-sourced network and since then the developers have been using it to build their data layer for modern applications.
Hasura has designed its platform to make web application development faster by erasing blockage to data access for frontend and full-stack developers. The company provides data APIs which are able to connect with multiple services and data sources, install domain-specific authorization logic, and deliver the necessary security and performance.
The company claims to get downloads more than 400 million times and has earned more than 25,000 GitHub stars since its inception. The company’s customers include Netlify, Atlassian, BBVA, Pipe, Swiggy Airbus and Walmart.

Hasura has received $100 million in a round led by Greenoaks including its existing investors Lightspeed Venture Partners, Vertex Ventures and Nexus Venture Partners. The company plans to use this fresh investment in accelerating research and development and expanding globally for its GraphQL Engine
The Series C round brings the total capital raised by Hasura to $136.5 million with a valuation of $1 billion. It had raised $25 million in its Series B in September 2020. It’s one of the few startups to attain unicorn status at the Series C stage itself.
