On the reality show Shark Tank India, there are far too few Bengaluru-based firms


Shark Tank is a reality television show that airs India has swiftly grown in popularity as among the most-watched reality series on television. Entrepreneurs present their enterprises to a panel of investors on India’s version of America’s Shark Tank to secure investment. The pitches were picked from among 62,000 registered start-ups; 106 have still to be covered. Around 15% of the start-ups highlighted were technical, with 7% embracing new technologies such as AI, ML, IoT, and robotics. 

But still, the controversy throws up that There was not a single investor judge from Bengaluru, India’s leading startup hotspot, on the inaugural season of ‘Shark Tank India,’ a reality program where businesses present ideas to a panel of investors.

Furthermore, just roughly a dozen of the 198 enterprises who presented to investors on TV were from Bengaluru. The participation from the south looked to be substantially smaller, with Ahmedabad, Pune, and Delhi accounting for a major portion of the total. Moreover, 62,000 people applied for the exhibition. Considering Bengaluru’s reputation as a startup hotbed, the show’s poor attendance became a talking point when it wrapped up last Friday. However, as per the Economic Survey of 2022, Delhi has surpassed Bengaluru as India’s startup hub. Against 4,500 in Bengaluru, Delhi currently has over 5,000 recognized startups.

Thinkerbell Labs is a company that creates innovative products. And also raised  $1.05 crore. 

Annie, a self-learning program for visually challenged people, raised $1.05 crore for Thinkerbell Labs’ flagship product. The concept for this Bangalore-based start-up came from BITS Pilani students. Annie is the world’s first self-learning Braille gadget for the blind, allowing students to autonomously learn to read, write, and type Braille. In addition, the accompanying app allows teachers to track students’ progress in real-time and provide homework. Local governments may also use the cloud platform to analyze, compare, and remediate kids. The governments of Jharkhand, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and Chattisgarh, as well as Tech Mahindra Foundation and Mitsubishi Industries, are among the app’s clients.

Also, Tagz Foods, NOCD, Ethik, Kunafa World, The State Plate, AyuRythm, Kabaddi Adda, Scholify, Shades of Spring, India Hemp and Co, and Qzense Labs are among the Bengaluru companies on the program.
