- ByStartupStory | January 31, 2026
RobCo, the Munich-based industrial robotics pioneer, has raised $100 million in a Series C round co-led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and Lingotto Innovation, with participation from Sequoia Capital, Greenfield Partners, Kindred Capital, Leitmotif, and The Friedkin Group.
Physical AI Powers SME Manufacturing Automation
Founded in 2020 by Technical University of Munich researchers, RobCo delivers modular robotic hardware kits with proprietary cloud software enabling SMEs to deploy flexible automation for machine loading, palletizing, and assembly without specialized programming. The vertically integrated platform combines perception, motion planning, and self-learning AI to achieve autonomous operation in dynamic production environments, slashing deployment time from weeks to hours.
US Expansion Targets Dominant Market Share
Capital accelerates RobCo’s Physical AI roadmap, enterprise customer deployments, and aggressive US market penetration – robotics’ largest growth frontier. CEO Roman Hölzl emphasized becoming Europe’s and America’s leading AI robotics provider for manufacturing, automating repetitive tasks to free humans for complex work. The round catapults valuation above $500 million, proving modular platforms conquer Industry 4.0’s SME accessibility gap.
