Jio True 5G is now available in Bengaluru and Hyderabad

On November 10, Reliance Jio announced the debut of Jio True 5G services in the southern IT hubs of Bengaluru and Hyderabad. Users will receive unlimited 5G bandwidth at up to 1 Gbps+ speeds as part of the “Jio Welcome Offer,” according to RIL’s telecom unit. Previously, Jio 5G was beta-launched in six cities: Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Varanasi, and Nathdwara.  “As a customer-obsessed organization, Jio is rolling out its advanced True-5G services in a phase-wise manner, to ensure the best customer experience,” the company noted in a release.

The 5G services are “already being experienced by lakhs of people” in six locations, and the feedback has been “very favorable and comforting,” according to the company. According to customer feedback, Jio users are witnessing speeds ranging from 500 Mbps to 1 Gbps on their smartphones and are “consuming very high volumes of data effortlessly.” According to Jio, the company’s 5G network has three advantages: it is built on a “stand-alone 5G architecture” with no reliance on the 4G network; it includes “the largest and best mix of 5G spectrum” across 700 MHz, 3500 MHz, and 26 GHz bands; and it includes carrier aggregation, which “seamlessly combines these 5G frequencies into a single robust data highway.” According to a note posted on Jio’s website, the company plans to provide Jio 5G to “every town, taluka, and tehsil” in the country by December 2023.
