ITC to work together with Invest India and support start-ups for sustainable packaging and waste management.


ITC Paperboards and Specialty paper Division(PSPD) announced that it has collaborated with Invest India to launch “ITC Sustainability and Innovation Challenge” with an aim to support start-up ideas on waste management solutions and sustainable packaging. 

The ITC PSPD will invite responses from startups to take up challenges provided by the company on smart technology-based solutions to the waste segregation process and the single use plastic problem and improve efficiency and speed. The company will be looking to utilise the rich startup ecosystem in the country to leverage and support them.

The type of support will include incentives at various stages of the programme. Expert mentorship, paid pilot opportunity, assistance in the “Development Stage” with testing and certification are some of those. Further, the company will also support in market expansion and capacity building through funding opportunities. 

“Disposal of plastic and non-biodegradable waste continues to pose the biggest challenge in solid waste management in India.We believe that businesses, both big and small with their immense managerial and innovative capacity, can come together to contribute significantly towards finding innovative and sustainable packaging and waste management solutions.” says the CEO of ITC PSPD, Vadiraj Kulkarni. 

The deadline for submitting proof of concept is February 28, 2022.
