LinkedIn Implements Workforce Reduction in Recruitment Division

LinkedIn, a job-providing platform, has commenced the layoff of its recruitment team as part of its efforts to cut costs amidst an approaching worldwide economic decline. This move puts LinkedIn in line with other companies that have also resorted to layoffs in response to the economic downturn.
In its extensive layoff process, the professional networking and recruitment platform owned by Microsoft, LinkedIn, has focused on cutting staff from its recruitment team, although the specific figure of affected workers remains unknown. This move is part of LinkedIn’s broader efforts to reduce costs amid the global economic downturn, which has prompted other companies to initiate layoffs as well.
It is probable that the layoffs at LinkedIn are a component of Microsoft’s strategy to reduce its workforce by roughly 10,000 individuals across different departments. As the global economic situation becomes increasingly uncertain, Microsoft and other firms are taking measures to curtail expenses and maintain profitability, with layoffs being one of the methods employed.
According to a Bloomberg article, Microsoft has recently terminated over 600 workers in its Seattle office, specifically in its hardware units such as HoloLens, Xbox, and Surface teams, as part of a wider reorganization initiative. The move comes as Microsoft, like many other businesses, is grappling with a tumultuous economic environment, and is adopting cost-cutting measures such as layoffs to ensure its long-term sustainability.

On February 13, The Information reported that LinkedIn had laid off workers within its recruitment division. Some former members of LinkedIn’s recruitment team have also utilized online recruitment portals to publicize their sudden termination. As global economic uncertainties persist, LinkedIn’s move to reduce its workforce is not uncommon, as many companies are compelled to implement cost-cutting measures such as layoffs.
A former LinkedIn employee, Nicole Zawacki, announced on the platform that she is one of the workers who have been laid off and will need time to process. Zawacki is also utilizing LinkedIn to search for new job opportunities. The move by LinkedIn to downsize its workforce due to the global economic downturn is common, as other companies are also resorting to layoffs.
Zawacki mentioned that she will take time to process the news but is looking for new job opportunities, specifically in Talent Acquisition or Diversity teams, and asked for any advice. This is a common occurrence as LinkedIn downsizes its recruitment department.
Multiple former LinkedIn employees have taken to the platform to share their experience of being laid off, with some looking for new job opportunities. Reports suggest that the layoffs have also affected the company’s India division. The severance package offered to some impacted employees has come under criticism, with some expressing disappointment.
