Yatra Online Hires Shakti Goel as Chief Architect and Data Scientist to Boost AI and Data Science Initiatives

Yatra Online, a provider of corporate travel services, has hired Shakti Goel as Chief Architect and Data Scientist to drive the company’s implementation and advancement in artificial intelligence (AI) and data science. Goel has more than 25 years of experience in various industries including travel, banking, logistics, retail, financial markets, and pharmaceuticals, and has previously worked for top-tier Fortune 500 companies such as Oracle, Raytheon, and Fidelity Investments.
Before joining Yatra, Goel was working on a challenging project to develop an enterprise-wide data warehouse covering all lines of businesses in the travel industry. He has previously held various senior roles including Chief Product and Technology Officer at Faircent, Chief Technology Officer for the Financial Inclusion and Banking division of HCL Infosystems, and CTO of Aakash Educational Services.
According to Dhruv Shringi, the CEO and Co-Founder of Yatra Online, Dr. Goel’s extensive experience in data science and analytics, both in the travel sector in India and at major Fortune 500 companies worldwide, makes him a valuable addition to the team. As artificial intelligence is viewed as the next frontier in technology and a crucial driver for innovation in the travel industry, Dr. Goel is expected to play a key role in driving Yatra’s data and AI initiatives, as the company continues to lead the way in business travel innovation in India.
Goel is an experienced technologist who holds a Doctor of Science (Sc.D.) and a Master of Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, MA, as well as a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in New Delhi, India.
