WLDD specializes in creating and delivering engaging content to help companies expand their audience reach. The startup also offers services such as influencer marketing and experiential marketing to build communities and engage with audiences.
In 2018, Wubba Lubba Dub Dub (WLDD), a meme marketing firm, was founded by three college buddies: Arihant Jain, Vivekanand Kilari, and Jaidev Kesti. WLDD recognizes the universal appeal and language of memes, which are replete with emotions and nostalgic relevance. Since its inception, WLDD claims to have collaborated with over 120 businesses, launched more than 1,050 campaigns, and fostered a creator community of over 10,000 individuals. Vivekanand Kilari, co-founder and chief meme officer of WLDD, expressed excitement about the recent capital raise, emphasizing the importance of digital intellectual properties (IPs) in the modern world of business. WLDD aims to grow its current 8 million followers across its digital IPs to 80 million in the next 5 years.
The landscape of digital marketing has been revolutionized by content innovation from creators. According to a report by Zefmo, the Indian content influencer marketing sector is projected to reach INR 3,000 Cr by FY24. In January last year, Content Engineers, a film and digital studio startup, raised $50 million from Veear Projects Inc. Additionally, capitalizing on the growing trend of NFTs in India, MemeChat, a meme-creating platform, launched The Meme Club in January 2022.
The Indian meme marketing sector features key players like GryNow, Youngun India, Confluencer, among others. However, as per a report by ET, out of over 8 Crore creators in India, only 1.5 Lakh were able to monetize their content by October 2022. Shockingly, the study revealed that less than 1% of content creators earn approximately INR 53 Lakhs. Despite the growing number of content creators, only a small fraction in India are able to generate income from their content.
