WhiteHat Jr CEO Ananya Tripathi Steps Down
- ByStartupStory | August 31, 2023
Ananya Tripathi, the Chief Executive Officer of WhiteHat Jr., is reportedly considering stepping down from the company owned by BYJU’S. However, her resignation has not yet been officially accepted, as per sources familiar with the matter cited by Sources. Tripathi, who has been on maternity leave since May 2023, is being encouraged to reconsider her decision. BYJU has yet to respond to requests for confirmation.
This potential departure would follow a series of senior-level exits that have caused uncertainty and change within the edtech firm. Other notable departures include Pratyusha Agarwal, BYJU’s Chief Business Officer; Himanshu Bajaj, Business Head of BYJU’s Tuition Centre; and Mukut Deepak, Business Head of classes 4-10 online and home tuitions. BYJU acknowledged these departures in a statement, attributing them to the company’s restructuring efforts.
Ananya Tripathi became the CEO of WhiteHat Jr. in April 2022, following her role as Managing Director at KKR Capstone. Previously, she served as Chief Strategy Officer at Myntra, where she led the acquisition of Jabong. During her absence, Arjun Mohan, BYJU’s lead for international operations, has taken on responsibilities at WhiteHat Jr.
BYJU’S has been streamlining its workforce globally and domestically in order to achieve profitability, particularly after facing challenges in repaying a $1.2 billion term loan B earlier in the year. In the past year, the company has implemented multiple rounds of layoffs as part of its cost-saving measures. The potential closure of WhiteHat Jr, acknowledged by BYJU’S Founder and CEO Byju Raveendran as a cost-related challenge, has also been discussed, according to a TechCrunch report.
