Vyomastra Secures $1.5 Million to Revolutionize Anti-Drone and Drone Tech Development

Mysuru-based defence technology startup Vyomastra has raised $1.5 million in funding from a prominent U.S.-based family office. This funding will drive Vyomastra’s ambitious vision to develop indigenous anti-drone technologies and advanced drone systems for diverse applications, solidifying India’s position as a global leader in the UAV and counter-drone space.

Vyomastra plans to utilise this funding to create cutting-edge anti-drone radar systems capable of detecting, identifying, and neutralizing malicious drones, including swarms. This development aligns with the increasing global demand for robust counter-drone solutions.

“Our AI-powered drone solutions address critical challenges in surveillance and industrial applications. By achieving over 75% localisation in manufacturing, we are paving the way for a self-reliant India in defence technology,” said the Vyomastra spokesperson.

The startup’s versatile aerial platforms include long-range surveillance drones and models capable of carrying up to 100 kg payloads for logistical and tactical operations. By indigenising essential components, such as flight controllers, Battery Management Systems (BMS), and NavIC-based navigation systems, Vyomastra is advancing both national security and India’s technological self-reliance.

“Integrating NavIC, India’s regional satellite navigation system, into our drones enables precision navigation and positioning—critical for both military and civilian applications,” the spokesperson added.

With a strong commitment to strengthening India’s domestic supply chain, Vyomastra aims to reduce dependency on imports significantly. The startup’s innovations, such as AI-driven flight controllers and efficient BMS, reflect its focus on enhancing the strategic capabilities of India’s defence sector.

Beyond innovation, Vyomastra is also building an ecosystem for India’s UAV industry. The startup actively nurtures local talent, fosters partnerships, and emphasizes indigenisation.

“This funding highlights the growing confidence of international investors in India’s potential in defence technology. Vyomastra is not just building drones but an ecosystem for the country’s UAV sector,” said the U.S.-based investor in a statement.
