Vahan, one of India’s major blue and grey-collar worker recruiting portals, has teamed with Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge (TASK) to help young graduates upskill and find work.
Vahan will enrol 30,000 qualified students on its platform as part of the agreement, where they will be able to improve their skills through unique access to the community, including webinars on industry trends, insights, and business leaders’ speeches.
The two-year agreement aims to improve the required competencies of graduating engineering students, resulting in concentrated and speedy employability. Vahan’s community inclusive pilot programme will continue to prioritise female candidates and students from underserved neighbourhoods.
Madhav Krishna, Founder and CEO of Vahan stated, “The blue-collar category remains an untapped market in India, despite forming the majority of the workforce. Youth unemployment and underemployment are major issues in India. Our collaboration with Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge will help these students find suitable employment possibilities. We believe that this engagement will help to improve job opportunities for Telangana students.”
He further said, “According to the Consumer Pyramids survey, conducted among rural and urban households in India by the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy Pvt. Ltd, (CMIE), graduates, including those who went on to complete their education, had the highest unemployment rate in India, with a share of 19.4%. These are concerning numbers, and we are convinced that with the assistance of our platform, we can dramatically lower the jobless rate among our country’s educated population.”
