UN Recognizes ‘Farmers Fresh Zone’ Agri-Food Startup for Innovative Excellence

Farmers Fresh Zone (Farmers FZ), a startup based in Kochi, was recently chosen as one of the 12 agri-food startups globally by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations for the inaugural SDG Agrifood Accelerator Program. The UN’s event, held in Rome, Italy, focused on advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), where Farmers Fresh Zone’s innovative and scalable practices stood out.
Sharing more details, Pradeep P. S., Chief Executive Officer, AgriTech D2C and FAAS (Farm to Fork as SaaS), said, “India is the second largest country in agriculture production, and we, at Farmers Fresh Zone, are super proud to represent India as the only one from India at a global forum. The event was held in Rome, Italy, aiming to attain the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Being recognized as a leader in sustainability in the agriculture sector is no mere feat. I am extremely elated that our sincere thoughts and efforts to bring down carbon emissions have garnered attention. We presented our model before an August audience at the event. Participation at the UN function in Rome also opened roads to networking with global names in this sector.”
Participating alongside eleven other startups, Atarmers Fresh Zone was among the three featured in a panel discussion. networkinggram extends financial assistance, innovation support, and enhanced market access, aiming to foster global expansion. The startup’s approach aligns with the UN’s SDGs, particularly SDG 1, SDG 2, and SDG 12.
Farmers FZ’s journey began by bridging the rural-urban gap, delivering fresh, safe-to-consume vegetables within a day. The startup’s experience in the agricultural sector led to the launch of vertical assistance for agribusinesses and farmers’ organizations in streamlined operations, including carbon footprint measurement. The Farm-to-Fork (FaaS) model has garnered clients across India, Germany, the US, and Canada while also minimizing food waste and encouraging regional production and consumption.
