Uber, the ride-hailing giant, has declared the selection of Arnab Kumar as the Director of Business Development for India and South Asia, a move unveiled on August 24.
This decision aligns with Uber’s commemoration of a decade in operations in India and its resolute commitment to nurturing sustainable mobility solutions.
Prabhjeet Singh, Uber’s President for India and South Asia, expressed, “We are delighted to have Arnab join our leadership team to strengthen Uber’s presence and ensure Uber’s ongoing success in India and South Asia.”
Kumar comes with a robust history of accomplishments within the financial services and technology sectors. Notably, during his tenure at NITI Aayog, he orchestrated substantial impact and transformative changes on a large scale, as noted by Singh.
Under Kumar’s guidance, the business development unit will persist as a pivotal catalyst for cultivating partnerships and novel avenues for growth, Singh affirmed. Kumar himself expressed his enthusiasm about joining Uber, a platform that has revolutionized the way people commute while generating earning prospects for millions across India and the broader region. He further emphasized the considerable growth potential inherent in India and South Asia.
Uber’s approach to partnerships with diverse stakeholders, including EV fleets, financiers, EV infrastructure providers, and governmental bodies, has positioned it at the vanguard of India’s electric vehicle transition, the company asserted.
Earlier in the year, Tata Motors agreed to supply 25,000 electric vehicles (EVs) to fleets on the Uber platform, the statement added.
