Twitter tells Asia HQ staff to vacate premises, to work from home under cost-cutting efforts

Employees at Twitter Inc.’s Singapore office were told to empty their desks and vacate the premises, according to people familiar with the situation, as Elon Musk continues to cut costs around the world.
As per sources, Twitter employees were notified by email on Wednesday that they had until 5 p.m. to leave the CapitaGreen building and resume their duties remotely beginning Thursday.
Singapore-based employees have been reassigned as remote workers in Twitter’s internal system until further notice, according to the source.

Singaporeans were hard hit by deep and abrupt job cuts when new owner Musk took over the San Francisco-based firm. Nur Azhar Bin Ayob, the region’s head of site integrity and a relatively new hire, was also let go this month by the company.
A spokesperson for CapitaLand, the owner of its Singapore offices, said Twitter remains a tenant at CapitaGreen without elaborating further.
Musk’s cost-cutting measures have included not paying rent on its global headquarters, for which it was sued last month by the landlord of its San Francisco offices. Platformer’s Casey Newton first tweeted about the Singapore office clearout, explaining that the reason was a failure to pay rent on the facility.
