Funding Alert

The Ayurveda Company (TAC) backed by Bollywood actor Kajal Aggarwal

The direct-to-consumer (D2C) Ayurveda brand has raised its Series A funding round, according to a press release from The Ayurveda Co. (T.A.C.). Actress Kajal Aggarwal led the most recent $15 million funding round. To what extent Aggarwal contributed to the Ayurveda business, which counts Wipro Consumer Care Ventures and other high-net-worth individuals among its seed fund investors, is unknown.  I joined T.A.C.’s mission to heal the world with Ayurveda because I genuinely believe that Ayurveda has the power to change this world and make it a better, kinder place, Aggarwal said in the statement.

T.A.C., an online-only brand introduced in 2021, claims a 500% increase in top-line revenue from March to October 2022 and that it expects to grow 10 times between March 2022 and 2023. According to the company, this rise is the result of a tremendous consumer pull from omnichannel commerce.

“Ayurveda is a central component of the vibrant online community that T.A.C. enjoys. The Ayurvedic consultation-based purchases made through our website have a significant impact on our e-commerce”, according to Param Bhargava, founder of The Ayurveda Co.

T.A.C sells its products in more than 30 online stores, including FirstCry, Myntra, Nykaa, Flipkart, and Amazon.    “At the intersection of aspiration, affordability, and accessibility, T.A.C. has demonstrated excellent retail seeding, expansion, and growth across India in just six months. T.A.C., which was previously only available online, is now accessible in 20 EBO/Kiosks at prominent malls across India, according to Bhargava’s statement in the press release. “T.A.C. has 1000+ counters currently serviced via a robust retail network in India, which is projected to grow to about 10000+ touchpoints in the next six months,” he continued. “From Jammu to Trivandrum, Vapi to Dimapur.” Partnerships and relationships are significant to us, and Kajal reciprocates this value system as an individual, says Shreedha Singh, co-founder and CEO of T.A.C. It only made sense to have more broad synergies in the future in addition to having her on board for the line tailored for the young ones because she is an avid promoter of a natural and holistic lifestyle.

“This is our first financial commitment to the startup ecosystem, and it shows great promise. In the following three to five years, T.A.C. will disrupt the consumer products industry and experience multi-fold expansion”, according to entrepreneur and investor Gautam Kitchlu.

The brand is thrilled to work with Kajal & Gautam for T.A.C. The route then increases to steeper curves. The money raised will be used to expand retail and digital penetration, says Bhargava.
