Tata Communications Completes Acquisition of The Switch Enterprises

Tata Communications has acquired The Switch Enterprises, a New York-based platform that offers video coverage services. Founded in 1991, The Switch aims to connect viewers to live events by providing content across linear TV, on-demand, and streaming platforms. The acquisition was made through Tata Communications’ international subsidiary based in the Netherlands, and involved a cash transaction of INR 486.3 crore after regulatory approvals and customary adjustments.

Tata Communications has acquired New York-based video coverage platform, The Switch Enterprises. The acquisition was made through Tata Communications’ (Netherlands) wholly owned international subsidiary. Dhaval Ponda, global head of media and entertainment business, will lead the new business. The deal, valued at INR 486.3 crore, involved a cash transaction after regulatory approvals and customary adjustments. 

Tri Pham, chief strategy officer of Tata Communications, stated that the acquisition will help create shared value and bring more powerful platforms for sports federations and broadcasters to deliver interactive entertainment forms to viewers across borders.

According to Dhaval Ponda, the global head of media and entertainment business at Tata Communications, the combination of Tata Communications and The Switch has created a powerhouse with live production capabilities, a global edge platform dedicated to the media and entertainment industry, and end-to-end managed services.

 He further stated that these are exciting times for the video production industry, and the two companies are leveraging their expertise to provide unique experiences for fans globally, whether they are playing esports, watching a live tournament, or live streaming a concert. Ponda also welcomed and wished the colleagues from The Switch the best for their future.
