Swiggy Expands 10-Minute Delivery Service ‘Bolt’ to Over 400 Cities

Food and grocery delivery giant Swiggy has announced the expansion of its 10-minute food delivery service, Bolt, to over 400 cities and towns across India. Initially launched in a few select cities, the service now reaches both emerging hubs and Tier-2 and -3 cities, significantly broadening its reach and making speedy food delivery available to a wider audience.
“For the first time, people are getting food from their favourite restaurants to their doorstep, as fresh as possible. Idlis come warm and fluffy, ice creams stay frozen, and even fries are crispy right out of the package,” said Rohit Kapoor, CEO of Swiggy’s Food Marketplace.
With growing enthusiasm from both national and local restaurant partners, Swiggy found expanding Bolt to be a natural progression. Kapoor added, “With growing excitement from both national and local restaurants, expanding Bolt was an easy decision. We’re thrilled to bring this experience to even more cities and homes.”
The rapid scaling of the Bolt service marks a key milestone in Swiggy’s broader mission to enhance customer experience through innovative delivery solutions. The service was first launched in Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, New Delhi, Mumbai, and Pune. Now, it is available in other major cities such as Jaipur, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Indore, Coimbatore, and Kochi, as well as in smaller cities like Roorkie, Guntur, Warangal, Patna, Jagtial, Solan, Nashik, and Shillong.
Cities from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have experienced the highest adoption rates for Bolt, followed by Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, West Bengal, Rajasthan, and Punjab.
The Bolt service currently offers food delivery from more than 40,000 participating restaurants, providing over 10 lakh food items for customers to choose from. To help users easily access this fast service, the “Bolt – food in 10 mins” option will be prominently featured on the Food page of the Swiggy app.
To ensure efficient delivery, Swiggy has partnered with restaurants to optimise order prioritisation for Bolt orders, focusing on food items that require minimal or no preparation time. “We’re thrilled to bring this experience to even more cities and homes,” said Kapoor.
As for delivery safety, Swiggy ensures that delivery partners are not informed of the distinction between Bolt and regular orders, and no additional incentive is given for faster delivery. The delivery radius for Bolt is currently limited to 2 kilometers, helping increase familiarity with the route and further speeding up deliveries. Additionally, delivery executives closest to Bolt outlets are prioritised for these orders.
Bolt offers a wide range of popular cuisine types, including burgers, snacks, bakery items, beverages, sweets, ice creams, breakfast items, and biryani, all of which require little preparation time or are ready to pack. Customers can choose from a mix of well-known national brands as well as local favorites, such as Gwalia Sweets in Ahmedabad, Shiraz and Kookie Jar in Kolkata, Karachi Bakery and G Pulla Reddy Sweets in Hyderabad, MM Mithaiwala in Mumbai, Bhartiya Jalpan and Anand Sweets in Bangalore, Sethi Ice-cream in Delhi, and Irani Cafe in Pune.
In smaller cities, Bolt is already having a noticeable impact. For example, top restaurant partners like Varalakshmi Tiffins in Guntur, Akhshay Tiffins in Mangalore, and Baap of Rolls in Roorkie now see over 10% of their orders coming through Bolt.
The expansion comes as India’s quick commerce industry experiences rapid growth. According to a report by financial services firm Chryseum, the industry’s sales have surged by more than 280% over the past two years. The quick commerce market in India is currently valued at $3.34 billion in 2024, with projections to reach $9.95 billion by 2029, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of over 4.5% during the forecast period.
