Susan Wojcicki Resigns as CEO of YouTube After 9-Year Tenure

Susan Wojcicki, the CEO of YouTube, has announced that she will be resigning from her position after leading the company for almost ten years. In a blog post, Wojcicki stated that she is stepping down to concentrate on her personal projects and prioritize her family and health.

After serving as Senior Vice President for ad products at Google, Susan Wojcicki took over as CEO of YouTube in 2014. Prior to working for Google, Wojcicki held positions at Intel Corp. and Bain & Company.

Now, Neal Mohan, who serves as Chief Product Officer at YouTube, will be taking over Wojcicki’s position as CEO.

In her blog post, Susan Wojcicki expressed her confidence in YouTube’s future growth prospects, particularly in the areas of shorts, streaming, subscriptions, and artificial intelligence. She also stated her belief that Neal Mohan is the ideal candidate to take on the CEO role and lead the company through these exciting opportunities.

While Wojcicki plans to step down, she will continue to support Mohan and assist with the transition process by working with various YouTube teams, providing coaching to team members, and meeting with creators in the short term.

Having been one of Google’s original employees, Susan Wojcicki has been affiliated with Alphabet Inc. for around 25 years.

Despite a decline of 8% to $7.9 billion in YouTube’s ad sales during Q4, it remains a significant contributor, accounting for over 10% of Alphabet’s overall revenue.
