Stashfin hires ex-Amex and RBL Bank executive as Chief Risk Officer

StashFin, a neobanking startup, has announced the appointment of Priyadarshi Dutta as its new Chief Risk Officer (CRO) to manage and mitigate risks while ensuring governance. According to the company’s statement, this move is expected to accelerate StashFin’s growth. Prior to joining StashFin, Dutta served as Senior VP and Head of Credit Card Risk at RBL Bank, where he was responsible for credit card risk management. He also worked as Vice President and Chief Risk Officer at American Express, where he supervised credit and operational risk oversight for India and other businesses.
With over 18 years of experience in portfolio management, mitigating operational risk, and setting up second-line defence functions, Priyadarshi Dutta has been appointed as the new Chief Risk Officer (CRO) at StashFin. Prior to joining StashFin, he has held managerial roles at EXL Service, Essex Lake Group, and HSBC. Dutta has a Master’s degree in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics. In a statement, he expressed his excitement to bring his skills to StashFin, an attractive and growing brand in an entrepreneurial environment.
StashFin’s appointment of Priyadarshi Dutta as its Chief Risk Officer (CRO) follows the company’s recent $100 million debt funding round from Trifecta Capital, InnoVen Capital, and domestic lenders. According to Tushar Aggarwal, the CEO and founder of StashFin, Dutta’s expertise in risk management and financial operations will play a critical role in the company’s expansion and growth, and help it achieve its goal of providing credit access to underserved segments.
StashFin, which was founded in 2016 by Tushar Aggarwal, Parikshit Chitalkar, and Shruti Aggarwal, offers affordable interest rates and flexibility to help customers improve their financial health. With a presence in seven cities across India, the neobanking startup has raised nearly $345 million in funding over five rounds. In 2022, Vijay Jasuja, former MD and CEO of SBI Cards, joined StashFin as a non-executive independent director. ICRA upgraded the rating of the startup’s group company, Akara Capital Advisors Private Limited (ACAPL), to BBB (Stable) / A3+.
