Spacetech platform Digantara launched World’s smallest digital space weather instrument

The world’s first commercial space-based weather system, ROBI (ROBust Integrating proton fluence metre), was launched on the most esteemed PSLV – C53 Mission by Digantara, a space tech firm developing a one-stop solution for space operations. This is one of the first commercial payloads to launch from India using the PSLV’s PS-4 orbital platform.
It was founded by two Lovely Professional University alumni, Anirudh Sharma and Rahul Rawat, and is being supported by IISC Bangalore. Anirudh Sharma and Tanveer Ahmed discussed their concept with the Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi during an earlier this month Digantara interaction. Digantara attended the Mann ki Baat speech when the honourable prime minister, Narendra Modi, mentioned the space tech firm after this encounter. High energy particles, plasma, and electromagnetic waves coming from the sun or the cosmos interact with the earth’s magnetic field to create space weather, a complicated phenomenon.

The Chancellor of Lovely Professional University, Dr Ashok Kumar Mittal stated, “It brings us tremendous joy when our students are able to attain new heights. I want to congratulate Anirudh Sharma and the team on this accomplishment. Practical learning is our main priority at LPU. We have installed a cutting-edge satellite ground station as part of considerable investments in space research. Working tirelessly day and night, our researchers are preparing LPU’s satellite for launch.”
Anirudh Sharma, CEO of Digantara and alumnus of LPU said, “High-quality situational awareness is required to enable successful space operations due to the expanding population in the near-Earth orbit and the rise of space-based activities including in-orbit refuelling, servicing, and space tourism. We can use Space – MAP’s capabilities to provide an infrastructure layer for efficient space operations. Terrestrial navigation services are essential for the ground logistic sector, serving as an infrastructure layer for various companies.”
