On May 4, Simplilearn, the higher education technology platform, announced its first offline center in Noida, a suburb of Delhi, as competition in the industry heats up, with many startups opting for physical classroom teaching to compensate for the declining demand for digital learning. The startup plans to open similar experience centers in cities such as Gurugram, Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Chennai in the coming days.
Simplilearn has announced the launch of its first offline centre in Noida, Delhi, to cater to the rising demand for physical classroom teaching among students. The edtech startup intends to open similar experience centres in other cities like Gurugram, Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Chennai soon. The centre will help aspirants identify relevant upskilling programmes, offering a 360-degree view of Simplilearn’s course offerings, and supporting them with experienced professionals dedicated to helping learners achieve their career goals. Simplilearn plans to expand its market presence with the new centre, providing learners with an on-ground touchpoint for easy access.
Simplilearn, established in 2010, provides courses covering various domains including artificial intelligence and data science, cloud, programming, and digital marketing. It has partnered with American universities including MIT and Caltech, as well as companies such as IBM, Facebook, and Microsoft Azure. With the gradual return to pre-pandemic normalcy, the company is now planning to engage with aspirants face-to-face to offer upskilling guidance, according to Dalal.
According to Dalal, “Our objective is to improve and enhance the learner experience through our centres in Noida and other locations, which will assist aspirants in selecting the best learning program for their professional growth.” Simplilearn’s India Consumer business witnessed a 45% growth in FY23, with data science and coding segments experiencing the most significant demand, followed by cloud computing and cybersecurity, the company stated.
Simplilearn, one of the pioneers in the online higher education space, received a $250 million investment from global private equity firm Blackstone in 2021, giving the latter a controlling stake of over 60 percent. Later, in November 2022, Simplilearn raised $45 million in a funding round led by GSV Ventures, although the valuation remains undisclosed.
