Chipset giant Qualcomm has named Savi Soin as the new President of Qualcomm India, entrusting him with a pivotal role in driving the company’s strategies in the country. With an extensive background of over two decades at Qualcomm, including a decade in senior leadership positions, Soin brings a wealth of experience to his new role. Reporting directly to Jim Cathey, Chief Commercial Officer of Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. (QCT), Soin’s responsibilities encompass executing Qualcomm’s Indian strategy, cultivating partnerships with industry stakeholders, and collaborating with the Indian Government across sectors like mobile, automotive, semiconductors, IoT, and communication infrastructure.
Soin has previously led the Global Strategic Partnerships and Business Incubation division, and notably, he played a central role in shaping Qualcomm’s strategy as the head of Strategy and Business Development in Qualcomm Technologies’ semiconductor division.
The transition in leadership sees Rajen Vagadia, who capably served as Qualcomm India President for the last five years, moving to Qualcomm’s San Diego headquarters. In his new capacity as Vice President, Vagadia will lead the Global Distribution and Global Carrier Strategy, roles that follow his successful leadership in establishing Qualcomm Technologies as a wireless technology leader in India and forging critical alliances for the rollouts of 4G and 5G technologies within the nation.
Savi Soin, now at the helm of Qualcomm India, shared his enthusiasm for returning to his homeland and acknowledged India’s integral role in the global digital transformation landscape due to its substantial scale and resources. Soin’s vision is to collaborate closely with the Indian ecosystem, leveraging Qualcomm’s technological innovations to expedite transformation across diverse sectors, with a special focus on pivotal areas like 5G, AI, IoT, and Automotive. His aspiration is to build upon Qualcomm’s strong engineering presence and brand in the Indian market, propelling the semiconductor and startup ecosystem forward.
“India is a priority market for Qualcomm, and we remain committed to investing in it. I would like to thank Rajen for his leadership and contribution to driving growth in India by strengthening our presence and accelerating innovation in the country,” said Jim Cathey, Chief Commercial Officer.
