Paytm has successfully deployed over 10,000 payment devices, including Soundboxes, QR codes, and Card Machines, to revolutionize Gram Panchayats across several states in India. This strategic move aims to bring about a transformative shift by facilitating mobile payments within these local governance bodies.
Having secured a mandate to implement QR/Card Machines and Soundboxes for over 7,000 Gram Panchayats in Andhra Pradesh, Paytm is working in collaboration with major banks such as HDFC Bank, SBI, IDFC First Bank, and various regional banks. Similar direct mandates have been received from the state departments of Uttar Pradesh and Goa, further emphasizing the widespread adoption of Card Machines and Soundbox technology.
The impact of this initiative is already evident, with more than 1,200 Gram Panchayats in Gujarat, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Maharashtra, and Assam already digitalized through Paytm’s QR code and Soundbox solutions. This success has been made possible by forging strategic partnerships with State Government Departments, Gram Panchayats, and several banks, enabling the deployment of offline solutions like Card Machines, QR codes, and Soundboxes.
“We are committed to driving access to mobile payments to every part of India. With the deployment of our iconic payment devices like Soundbox, Card Machine, and QR, we are redefining the digital landscape of Gram Panchayats and rural India. This will simplify fee collection processes for services like property tax, water bills, and electricity bills and more,” stated Abhay Sharma, Chief Business Officer, Payments, Paytm.
As Paytm continues to widen its reach and strengthen partnerships across various states, the transformative influence of these payment devices is poised to create a more efficient and digitally empowered ecosystem within Gram Panchayats nationwide.
