OYO’s Rohit Kapoor quits as CMO, likely to join Swiggy as food-delivery CEO

Swiggy, the online food delivery company, is likely to seek a CEO for its food delivery operation, according to various individuals familiar with the situation. According to them, previous COO Vivek Sunder, who departed the firm around a year ago, is likely to be replaced by Oyo executive Rohit Kapoor.
According to the sources, the corporation has been hunting for the ideal individual to fill the position since then. “Having someone dedicated to food delivery full-time is a corporate and board priority.” The wider management’s attention has shifted to new areas in recent quarters. “Food, which is the basic engine, requires full attention,” stated a corporate investor.

Another firm investor reacted to the news, stating, “With Kapoor’s arrival, the organization’s food delivery method and day-to-day decision making would be simplified… Harsha, who was previously attending weekly calls on the delivery service side, would now have more time to focus on the whole business scope.” Rohit, OYO’s Global CMO, is also a former McKinsey employee. He was in charge of numerous positions in the hospitality firm, primarily OYO Life—the home rental vertical.
In his new post, Kapoor will be in charge of expanding Swiggy’s meal delivery operations. Furthermore, the firm, which began strong but steadily lost market share to meal delivery competition Zomato, has seen a reorganization in its structure. While Zomato was listed last year, Swiggy has yet to make its stock market debut. Among those who left were Business SVP Shivcharan Pulugurtha and Paul Varghese, Vice President and Head of Restaurant Partnership.
