Oorja raises undisclosed amount from Capital A


Early-stage focused fund Capital A has strategically invested in the business-to-business logistics tech platform Oorja, which enables automotive companies to design better batteries, through its $10 million cleantech fund Evolve.

Oorja, led by Vineet Dravid, is Capital A’s second investment in the cleantech and electric mobility sector following a $2.5 million investment in Chargeup, the business developing India’s largest network of battery swapping stations.

According to a press statement from the startup, the funds will be utilised to improve its battery design and predict its battery performance by tracking variables like temperature which could be critical for designing batteries.

The heating up of batteries, which led to multiple incidences of catching fire, has been a problem for the EV ecosystem. Oorja asserts that by combining physics and machine learning in an inventive and cutting-edge way,issues like these can be tackled.
