Ola to lay off 1,000 employees for fresh hiring across the EV sector

Ola, the ride-hailing service has begun the process of laying off approximately 1,000 people across different verticals while also ramping up hiring for its electric vehicle (EV) business. Early this month, media sources suggested that Ola could fire 400–500 workers.
After announcing the shutdown of its rapid commerce and used car operations, Ola Dash and Ola Cars, late last month, the company is currently undergoing an internal restructure. 500 individuals reportedly lost their jobs as a result of the shutdowns. The firm said at the time that the decision is consistent with its renewed focus on the EV mobility market.
