Nykaa’s Falguni Nayar is India’s richest self-made woman: Report

According to the IIFL Wealth Hurun India Rich List 2022, Nykaa founder Falguni Nayar has amassed the title of the wealthiest self-made woman in India. Nayar’s wealth increased more than Kiran Mazumdar-did Shaw’s after Biocon’s blockbuster public offering.
The “biotech queen,” Shaw, who was ranked 67th on the list, has a net worth of INR 24,800 Cr. After a sharp increase of 345%, Nayar’s net worth, which is INR 38,700 Cr, has exceeded Shaw’s.
In November 2021, Nayar’s Nykaa was made publicly available. Hurun claims that Nayar thereafter had the second-largest increase in wealth, trailing only Ravi Modi of Vedant Fashions. She was 169th on the list the previous year, and the leader of the e-commerce unicorns was at position 33 in 2022.
When Nykaa achieved one of the best debuts on the Indian stock exchanges, it gave its investors a return of about 80% just on the day of listing.
In the company’s pre-IPO phase, Nayar, her husband Sanjay Nayar, and their children Anchit and Adwaita Nayar retained a majority interest (over 50%), which she did not dilute. As of September 22, 2022, Nykaa had a market cap of INR 62,620 Cr, and Falguni Nayar’s fortune makes up more than half of that.

The top 100 startup founders from over 60 firms, according to the Hurun India’s Rich List of 2022 published by IIFL Worth, have a combined wealth of INR 5.06 lakh crore. They were 100 entrepreneurs, with an average age of 40, and more than 60 of them came from 37 unicorn startups.
