NSRCEL and Alstom collaborates to develop an Incubation Program to support sustainable mobility startups

NSRCEL, IIM Bangalore’s start-up hub, and Alstom, India’s sustainable mobility provider, announced a partnership to implement the Sustainability Incubation Program, which will support startups with the potential to innovate and implement social, financial, and environmental impact that aligns with SDG goals. The programme will aid in the development, scaling, and market penetration of technology solutions that will replace high-emitting, energy-hungry, and non-recyclable incumbents.

The programme will support entrepreneurs in their early stages of income generation. Sustainable transportation, last-mile connectivity, sustainable logistics and supply chain, green buildings, consumption management, agriculture and farming equipment, upcycling and recycling, and trash management will be among the technologies chosen by the programme.

Olivier Loison, Managing Director, Alstom India stated, “Alstom’s objective is to accelerate innovation in sustainable mobility and move the globe closer to clean and green transport. Some of our CSR investments in the country are being driven by this goal.”

Anand Sri Ganesh, COO of NSRCEL said, “Entrepreneurs have emerged as the driving force behind sustainability innovation and acceptance.” “Through the programme, we hope to provide entrepreneurs with the ability to catalyse the development of more sustainable and inclusive societies through their innovative solutions.”

The applicants will be chosen based on the viability of their ideas and the proposed solution to the problem. The initiatives that have been shortlisted will be chosen for a pre-incubation programme. Pre-incubation will assist companies in establishing a foundation by reinforcing business basics and providing need-based coaching. The shortlisted firms will next undertake a 6-month incubation programme based on their prototypes and pitches to the screening committee.

The curriculum is specifically created to increase knowledge and expertise among sustainable businesses by providing them with the capacity to analyse their product market fit for diverse settings. The initiative will provide companies with interactive capacity-building workshops, contextual mentorship, and ecosystem networks.
