No-code app development company Plobal Apps raises $8.5 million in a funding round led by Elevation Capital and others

Plobal Apps, a platform for creating no-code mobile apps, has secured $8.5 million in a round-headed by Elevation Capital and Bessemer Venture Partners. Better Cash joined the round as well, bringing the total capital raised to $14 million. The firm, which was founded in 2016, plans to utilise the additional funding to extend its presence in North America, develop new products, and enhance its technical infrastructure.
Plobal Apps founder Atul Poharkar stated that with the rise of privacy laws, legislation, and third-party data restrictions, personalization and retargeting have become difficult for many D2C companies. Brands are doubling down on owned platforms like email, SMS, and mobile applications to reach their consumers, as acquisition costs rise and retention becomes more important.

Plobal assists D2C and e-commerce firms in developing and launching their own mobile apps without needing to hire an external app developer, virtually in a DIY approach. It also assists its customers or brands that utilise its platform in launching their app, driving installations, engaging with users, and generating money. Steve Madden, Goose Creek, Koovs, and Rare Rabbit are among the startup’s customers, which include mid-market and enterprise Shopify users.
Plobal Apps promises to handle “millions of in-app GMV” for its merchants on a monthly basis. The company charges businesses a set amount for building apps on their platform and then provides over the APK. Merchants can utilise the dashboard to track their app’s progress and communicate with their consumers once it’s life, thanks to features like comprehensive analytics and automatic abandoned cart push notifications.
