Chennai-based drone startup Garuda Aerospace has forged a groundbreaking partnership with the Chennai Super Kings, one of the most successful cricket franchises in the world. This deal makes Garuda Aerospace the first-ever drone partner for a team, and they will serve as the official drone partner for the 2023 season.
The startup is the only dual DGCA approved drone company in India, manufacturing locally-made drones and training aspiring professionals in drone technology. Recently, Garuda Aerospace raised $22 million in the largest Series A funding round ever recorded in the drone industry. Additionally, former Indian cricket team captain and brand ambassador, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, holds a stake in the company.
Agnishwar Jayaprakash, the Founder and CEO of Garuda Aerospace, expressed his excitement over the partnership, stating that “they are thrilled to team up with the legendary Chennai Super Kings franchise. As a passionate supporter of the team, he described it as a dream come true for Garuda Aerospace to collaborate with their favourite team. According to Jayaprakash, the partnership is a perfect match for two organisations that share a common goal of utilising technology and innovation to attain success. While Garuda Aerospace’s corporate colours are blue, he affirmed their loyalty to the team by saying that they will bleed yellow throughout the season”.

Chennai Super Kings Cricket Limited’s CEO, Mr Kasi Viswanathan, “expressed his delight in announcing Garuda Aerospace as their official drone partner. He acknowledged the importance of innovation in their team’s success and growth and commended Garuda Aerospace for sharing their values and commitment to excellence. Mr Viswanathan also noted that Garuda Aerospace’s emphasis on innovation and youth training perfectly aligns with Chennai Super Kings’ values”.

Having already secured four titles in the IPL, with their first two in 2009 and 2010, followed by a third in 2018 after a long break, and their fourth in 2021, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are determined to claim their fifth title this year and match the record held by Mumbai Indians (MI). CSK’s opening game against the defending champions Gujarat Titans is scheduled for March 31st at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi stadium, and their captain, Dhoni, will undoubtedly be hoping for a strong start to their campaign.
