Mental Health Startup LISSUN Acquires US-Based Being Cares to Build AI-Led Family Support Ecosystem

Mental health platform LISSUN has announced the acquisition of US-based Being Cares, a technology-led mental health startup supporting nearly one million users globally. The move strengthens LISSUN’s mission to build a comprehensive, AI-powered ecosystem for family mental health, particularly focused on children and developmental challenges.
Founded in 2021 by Krishna Veer Singh and Tarun Gupta, LISSUN operates a hybrid mental healthcare model, offering support across psychiatry, rehabilitation, infertility and maternity care, child development, and education. The acquisition will bring Being Cares’ proprietary mental health mapping system, which covers over 40 conditions and analyses 2,500+ causes and effects, into LISSUN’s offerings.
“This is not just an acquisition. It marks the beginning of a complete reimagining of how mental healthcare can support entire families,” said Tarun Gupta, Co-founder of LISSUN.
“With Being’s AI and our clinical expertise, we are building a system that addresses families’ concerns from the very first signs, offers digital guidance, and seamlessly transitions into in-person care when needed.”
Being Cares’ system currently maps issues like anxiety, depression, burnout, and parenting stress, and will now be adapted to child-centric conditions such as autism, ADHD, speech delays, and learning disabilities. As part of the acquisition, Varun Gandhi and Abhishek Sharma, Co-founders of Being Cares, will join LISSUN as Chief Product Officer and Chief Technology Officer, respectively.
Founded in the US, Being Cares aimed to create an intelligent, empathetic mental health assistant for families. Through the merger, its technology will be integrated into LISSUN’s growing “Sunshine by LISSUN” initiative, which focuses on children with neurodevelopmental and behavioral challenges. Launched in June 2023, Sunshine has already served over 10,000 children, delivering 30,000+ hours of therapy across 20 centers in India.
“Our north star was always building an empathetic, intelligent mental health assistant that families could trust. With LISSUN, we now have the infrastructure, therapists, and shared values to bring this dream to life,” said Varun Gandhi, Co-founder and CEO of Being Cares.
LISSUN aims to expand the Sunshine network to 200+ centers in the next 2–4 years, while also deploying its AI assistant Ray via platforms like WhatsApp, enabling real-time, personalized support for parents navigating early mental health and developmental concerns in children.
The company emphasized that while the acquisition of Being Cares is a key strategic milestone, LISSUN remains open to collaborations with early-stage mental health startups developing innovative, tech-enabled solutions.
