MediBuddy acquires Indian health business of US-based Aetna


MediBuddy, a digital healthcare platform based in Bengaluru with a valuation of over $500 million, has acquired the vHealth by Aetna business (Indian Health Organization Pvt Ltd) from US-based Aetna Inc in India for an undisclosed amount.

The vHealth by Aetna business will be renamed as “MediBuddy vHealth” in the next six months. The current management team and employees of Indian Health Organisation (IHO) will continue to work for IHO, which is now part of MediBuddy. This acquisition will allow MediBuddy to increase its subscriber base to more than 30 million users.

Operated by IHO, vHealth by Aetna is a B2B healthcare provider offering a range of primary healthcare services through a subscription-based model. Services include telehealth consultations, a wide network of outpatient providers, pharmacy services, diagnostic services, and dental care.

Satish Kannan, the Co-founder and CEO of MediBuddy, stated “the acquisition will enhance their market dominance by boosting their distribution channels, enabling them to expand their services and reach a greater number of people.”

The subscribers of vHealth by Aetna will now have the opportunity to utilize the healthcare services offered by MediBuddy. According to Anurag Khosla, CEO of Aetna India and IHO, both MediBuddy and vHealth by Aetna have a shared vision for the future, where primary and digital healthcare are combined to enhance the accessibility and delivery of high-quality healthcare services.
