Bengaluru-based professional social media platform Medial has successfully raised $500,000 in a funding round led by Ortella Global Capital (OG Capital), a fund founded by Rajvardhan Mohite and former IFC executive Sayan Ghosh. This marks a significant milestone for the startup, which continues to attract investor interest in 2024. Notably, Medial is one of the few startups to have secured two funding rounds this year, having raised $120,000 in January during its pre-seed round, led by FirstCheque VC.
The fresh funding will be channeled toward creating a more integrated professional ecosystem aimed at facilitating meaningful connections, career growth, and delivering relevant content to the global startup and tech community.
Founded by Niket Raj Dwivedi, Aishwarya Raj Pandey, Prateek Kaien, and Harsh Dwivedi, Medial is a content and community-driven platform that serves as a hub for startup news, industry updates, banter, and advice. The platform is focused on creating value for its growing community, providing a non-clickbaity space where transparent and inclusive workplace conversations can thrive.
Medial’s user base spans diverse domains such as tech, product, and UI/UX, and the platform is positioning itself to become a job board and company profile hub with worldwide relevance. The startup’s vibrant community already includes product managers, UI/UX designers, product analysts, venture capitalists, business analysts, and aspiring entrepreneurs.
Since its alpha launch, Medial has seen impressive growth, attracting a community of 100,000 entrepreneurs, startup enthusiasts, tech professionals, and investors, with more than 10,000 daily active users. The platform is quickly gaining traction, serving as a space for professionals to connect, collaborate, and stay updated on industry trends.
“We are thrilled with the traction Medial has gained in such a short period. With the new funding, we aim to further develop the platform to meet the needs of our diverse community, providing them with the tools and resources they need to succeed in their careers,” said Aishwarya Raj Pandey, Co-Founder of Medial.
Medial is built to incorporate real identities, similar to LinkedIn and GitHub, while also offering an anonymous feature to provide an added layer of security and flexibility for users. This unique combination of authenticity and privacy is part of what sets Medial apart from competitors in the space, which include Grapevine, Hood (formerly Zorro), and to some extent, FishBowl, Blind, and Reddit.
