Malaika Arora invests in healthy dessert startup Get-A-Way


Bollywood actress Malaika Arora, has invested an undisclosed sum in the healthy dessert startup Get-A-Way. As part of the agreement, Arora will serve as the startup’s brand ambassador.

Get-A-Way plans to launch keto cheesecakes, vegan gelatos, and other healthy desserts in one to two months after bringing on Malaika Arora. The startup plans to use the funds to expand its offline and online presence across India.

Biryani By Kilo invested $2 million to acquire a majority stake in Get-A-Way about a month ago. As part of the agreement, the startup will expand in the business ecosystem by utilising Biryani By Kilo’s distribution, supply chain, and management channels.

“We have some very fluffy, sweet and ambitious plans lined up ahead which will enable dessert and fitness lovers to enjoy their desserts guilt free and I can’t wait for everyone to get their hands on my hand-picked desserts and get away with enjoying them,” said Malaika Arora.

Get-A-Way, founded in 2019 by Jash Shah, Pashmi Shah, and Jimmy Shah, sells low-calorie, high-protein desserts such as ice cream sandwiches, popsicles, kulfis, and ice creams.

Get-A-Way plans to expand its product line, manufacturing capabilities, and sales channels, according to the company.

Get-A-Way appeared on the startup funding TV show Shark Tank India Season 1 and received INR 1 Cr from the show’s judges, Aman Gupta, Ashneer Grover, and Vineeta Singh.
