Ladies Who Lead Raises $1M in Pre-Series A Round Led by Nithin Kamath’s Rainmatter

Ladies Who Lead (LWL), a members-only platform focused on advancing women in leadership, has successfully raised $1 million in a pre-Series A funding round led by Rainmatter, the impact-driven investment firm founded by Nithin Kamath. The funding round also saw participation from Jayant Davar’s family office.

The raised capital will enable LWL to expand its unique ecosystem designed to empower women professionals and leaders across diverse sectors. This will include providing the necessary resources, mentorship, and support to help women overcome traditional barriers and excel in their careers.

Founded in 2021 by former journalist Aabha Bakaya and Aditya Ghosh, LWL has been creating an inclusive space for women entrepreneurs, professionals, and veterans from various industries. The platform aims to provide professional growth opportunities through curated workshops, networking events, mentorship programs, upskilling sessions, and social events. By addressing key barriers such as pay disparity, limited networking opportunities, lack of mentorship, and the need for a better work-life balance, LWL strives to ensure women have the support needed to thrive in leadership roles.

“With this funding, we are excited to deepen our reach and continue supporting both established and emerging women leaders. Our platform aims to empower women across all sectors, breaking down barriers and helping them achieve their full potential,” said Aabha Bakaya, Founder and CEO of Ladies Who Lead.

Currently operational in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, LWL plans to expand its presence and reach a wider audience across India.

As the funding round progresses, LWL’s founders remain committed to their mission of fostering a supportive and empowering environment for women in leadership. Aabha Bakaya emphasized the impact of the funding, saying, “As our movement grows, more women in various fields will lead, and our collective influence will empower us to co-create the future. We see this funding from Rainmatter as a strong endorsement of our vision, and we are incredibly proud to have them as our partners on this journey.”

Seema Patil from Rainmatter and Zerodha highlighted the critical importance of fostering gender equality in leadership roles. She stated, “Today, only 35% of Indian women participate in the workforce, compared to the global average of 50%. Even more concerning is that women hold just 18% of senior leadership roles in India. There is a tremendous opportunity to change this. When we connected with Ladies Who Lead, we were immediately inspired by their commitment to creating a unique space for women while providing them with mentorship and growth opportunities. We are excited to support them on this journey.”
