Krafton Launches KRAFTON India Gaming Incubator (KIGI) to Foster Gaming Ecosystem

Krafton, the creator of popular games like BGMI (Battlegrounds Mobile India), has unveiled the KRAFTON India Gaming Incubator (KIGI) initiative. This program aims to invigorate and expand the gaming ecosystem within India.

Krafton’s KIGI initiative will span from six months to a year and will annually support approximately 6-10 gaming teams. Participants will benefit from mentoring and access to Krafton’s internal resources, including data analytics and market research. Upon completing the program, participants will have the option to self-publish their games or secure venture capital funding from external investors and Krafton.

Krafton has outlined that KIGI will concentrate on ventures with a keen interest in scaling, a willingness to be mentored, a strong passion for game development, and an openness to future funding opportunities. Entities centered around gambling and real-money gaming will not be eligible for this initiative.

The selected participants of the KIGI program will receive guidance from esteemed gaming executives, game developers, and industry experts. This includes Dave Curd, Creative Director of PUBG Studios, and Harns Kim, Game Producer at KRAFTON.

Financial support through the KIGI program will vary from $50,000 to $150,000 depending on the specific needs of the participating companies. Krafton is actively seeking early-stage startups, students, and independent developers to join this innovative initiative.

The KIGI program will be overseen by Anuj Sahani, a former executive at Gameloft and Electronic Arts. Sahani expressed enthusiasm for the potential groundbreaking ideas and games that will emerge from this program. He highlighted that KIGI is designed to provide aspiring developers, designers, and creators with the necessary resources and mentorship to bring their gaming ideas to life.
