JB Pharma stated on Friday that it has purchased Z&D, Pedicloryl, Pecef, and Ezinapi from Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, marking the third acquisition this year that it has done so. All four brands—Z&D, Pedicloryl, Pecef, and Ezinapi—are in the paediatric segment, with a total market size of Rs. 1800 crore, according to the company’s news release.
Additionally, the company disclosed that combined sales for FY 2021–22 were estimated to be INR 33 crores. JB will take over the production, promotion, and distribution of these products in India in accordance with the conditions of the final agreement. According to the company’s announcement on Friday, the full integration and transition of the brands should be finished over the next two weeks.
In a statement, JB Pharma CEO and Wholetime Director Nikhil Chopra said, “Now is the ideal time to seize the chance to broaden our reach in the paediatric market across the nation because each of the four brands we have bought commands a dominant position in its specialised market. This acquisition is in line with our strategic blueprint and future growth objectives for JB. We will continue to focus on analysing opportunities for enhancing our India domestic company.”

Mr. Chopra continued, “Overall, the brands acquired have significant growth potential to strengthen our already established presence in the paediatric category, which is synergistic to our current portfolio, speciality depth, and geographical presence. I’ll elaborate further on acquisition and expansion and how it will strengthen JB’s existing paediatric category. Additionally, it will enable us to dramatically increase the effectiveness of our field force on the ground and expand our product choices for HCPs across the nation in the paediatric basket, which includes medications for respiratory infections and gut health.
According to media reports, the pharmaceutical corporation has been searching the domestic market for businesses to buy. For $628 million in January, it also purchased brands from Sanzyme, a probiotics and reproductive health company.
