Under the ‘StartUps for Railways’ programme, the Indian Railways got 297 applications under the “StartUps for Railways” program, according to Railways Minister Ashwini Yadav. Vaishnaw also mentioned that the government received suggestions for 11 problems to be solved.
The minister tweeted that the faulty train detection system had received the most proposals. The creation of an online condition monitoring system for the traction motors of 3-phase electric locomotives (42), as well as the automation of track inspection tasks, made up the majority of the 43 suggestions that were submitted for this topic (40).
There were a limited number of ideas submitted, however, to address issues with the Headway Improvement System for suburban portions that are compatible with the Indian Railways National ATP system (4). The government said that the newly created Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) will exclusively belong to inventors, among other important aspects of the strategy.

Vaishnaw predicted that this platform would provide companies with a fantastic opportunity to interact with the railways at the time of its debut. 11 problem statements, including rail fracture and headway reduction, were taken up for phase one of the programme, while the ministry received over 100 problem statements from various divisions, field offices, and zones of Railways.
A grant of up to Rs. 1.5 crore was declared under the scheme. According to the ministry, the whole process—from posing issue statements to developing a prototype—was made available online with a set timeframe in order to make the entire policy open and objective.
The ministry stated that prototype testing will be conducted on the railways, but it also indicated that further funds would be given to scale up deployment based on the prototypes’ good performance.
